Blog

Two years ago I received an Apple Ipad as a very generous gift.  During those two years it has become my best friend in many ways.  Yes, I do live that exciting of a of a life people.  Be jealous, be very jealous.

After my excruciating days at the giant playground which is OAK Athletic Development I take my tedious five minute drive home where I slave away in the kitchen for another ten whole minutes.  After these extremly rough days I grab some well deseved couch time, turn the TV on and grab my trusty Ipad (for those of you who don't know me I am being sarcastic here). Some nights I am fairly productive, reading books or practical articles, blogs and emails.  Of course other times are spent on the wonder that is YouTube.

I do indeed enjoy YouTube but man alive can it pull you in deep.  If it weren't for that stupid related videos tab I would be just fine.  You guys know what I'm talking about.  You initially search for highlights of last night's tournament games and one hour later somehow you're watching the Top Ten List about the World's Hottest Peppers.  At that point you don't know where you started or how you got to where you are.  All you can do is say well done YouTube, well done.

My brain seems to operate just like my browsing tendencies on YouTube, constantly browsing and scanning for interesting, entertaining or inquisitive information.  One minute I am thinking about what I'm going to eat for lunch and two minutes later I'm wondering how much tread is left on my rear driver's side tire.  But I guess wandering minds are active minds and that wandering is sometimes necessary for creative thought and innovation.  In fact, last week I found myself daydreaming, I mean brainstorming and I thought about you guys and wondered how well you really understand what we stand for.  Sure I've written extensive posts on our core principles and training principles.  But I want you guys to know why I believe in these things.  My opinions, my motives, my manifesto!  So last Wednesday afternoon I developed OAK AD's Manifesto, our personal declaration.

You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.  Please share this post if you agree.
